Red Globe is one of the most recognisable table grapes in the world, and you can see why at a glance: huge, round pink berries that fill the hand. It ripens late, keeps exceptionally well after harvest and travels without suffering, which is why it turns up on shelves everywhere. It is seeded, so it suits customers who do not count that against it. It does need its crop thinned: left loaded, it loses both the size and the colour that make it stand out. A Californian variety from UC Davis, released in 1981; VIVC no. 9972.
