Grapevine 'Sultanina' (Thompson Seedless)
Vitis vinifera L. ‘Sultanina’
Sultanina is the most widely grown seedless grape in the world and the reference variety for the raisin trade. Green-white seedless berries with a clean, neutral flavour that suits everything: table, raisin and wine. Ripening is medium. It has been established in the eastern Mediterranean for a very long time, and because it travelled everywhere it has collected hundreds of names — a customer may ask for Thompson Seedless or any local name, and the planting material is the same. Origin in Central Asia; VIVC no. 12051, with 167 recorded synonyms.
